The Los Angeles Lakers have decided to exercise the contract option on Jodie Meeks. Meeks played a total of 78 games and was in the starting line up 10 times in the 2012-2013 season. He averaged 7.9 points and 2.2 rebounds.
Meeks was signed as a free agent after playing for the Philadelphia 76ers for 2 years for about $3 million with the 2nd year being a team option. Meeks is known as a great perimeter shooter and is a main reason why the Lakers had interest in him. Although Meeks struggled throughout the season picking up his option was the decision the Lakers should have made due to their limited abilities to spend in free agency with the luxury tax.
