The Minnesota Timberwolves were no match for the Lakers on Thursday night as L.A. cruised to their 21st victory over the wolves. The final score was 116 to 94 with Kobe Bryant leading all scorers with 33 points. Although the win is not something many would look at as an impressive win, it brings the Lakers closer to the playoffs.
The bench brought great energy and contribution with Steve Blake, Jodie Meeks and Antwan Jamison all scoring double digits. Jamison who scored 17 points is finally showing consistency for the Lakers after being very inconsistent throughout the start of the season. Howard had a solid game with 11 points hitting five of his six field goals and adding 13 rebounds. The Lakers were hot from the 3 point line shooting 50 percent hitting 16 of them.
Kobe who seems to be getting better with age right now tweeted late after the game saying “Omg my man just gave me a new nickname and I love it! Ha #vino.” He has been playing great these past few games and needs to continue if they want to catch that 8th playoff spot.
The Lakers get two days rest before their next game on Sunday at Staples Center against a more challenging opponent in the Atlanta Hawks who have won their last 4 games and sit in the 4th spot in the eastern conference. The Lakers are now just two games behind the Houston Rockets who play the Orlando Magic on Friday. With a win on Sunday and some help from Dwight Howard’s former team L.A. can be closer to the playoffs than they have been all season.
