As the Lakers(28-30) take on the Minnesota Timberwolves(20-34) tonight, they catch a break with Kevin Love still out with injury. Chase Budinger and Brandon Roy are out as well with Andrei Kirilenko questionable for tonight. Even if the Wolves had their healthy roster, the Lakers would normally be expected to win but it has not been the case with many other beatable teams all season. The Lakers with a win tonight can make it the 20th straight over the Timberwolves, making it the NBA’s longest active streak.
Dwight Howard is finally showing sparks and consistency of his old self in this second half of the season. It could not have come at a better time with a big playoff push ahead of the Lakers. With assurances from Kobe that the team will make the playoffs and other teammates looking at this playoff push as a “fun” ride, Laker fans can only hope for the season that has only gotten worse to start going uphill.
After the numerous injuries from Nash to Gasol the Lakers are finally starting to catch a break with losses hitting Houston, Utah and Golden State making the Lakers only closer to achieving they’re goal of making the playoffs. The question is will they capitalize against a beatable Minnesota team coming into the Staple Center tonight?
